President's Welcome

Maggie O'Hara

I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with the NCDLA Board of Directors and you, the current members, to enhance the NCDLA's standing as the primary organization for distance teaching and learning in North Carolina.  The 2009 virtual conference was a great success and we plan to continue and extend that success with our 2010 conference.  Based on feedback from the membership, this year's conference will be a blended conference.  It will feature several sessions the week before and possibly after a short two-day face-to-face conference in New Bern.  Watch for a call for papers coming soon!

Our Board of Directors is made up of individuals with an amazing depth of knowledge of all things distant in education.  In an attempt to recognize and involve distance education across a wide spectrum, there are representatives from the community college system, the university system, NC Virtual Public Schools and the private sector.  Each member is committed to bringing you the Best Practices in teaching and learning with technology, increasing our membership, and making North Carolina the premier state for distance education.

The Board is here to serve the needs of the membership. Please let us know your thoughts. We believe we can all learn from each other, and we encourage your active participation in the organization.  We are looking for volunteers to help with the 2010 conference.  If you're interested in getting involved, please contact me (oharam@ecu.edu) or any Board member.  If you have a best practice or some exciting news to share in our newsletter, please contact Bruce Friend (Bruce.Friend@sas.com).

This is your organization. Let's all work together to make it the very best it can be.

Best regards,
Maggie O'Hara
