Session Protocol

  1. Prepare yourself to attend by running the Elluminate . . on the computer you will use well in advance (this means more than 1 hour) of the first session you plan to attend.
  2. Plan to enter the session 5-10 minutes prior to the start of the session
  3. To ask a question or make a comment while the speaker is talking, type the question in the chat box.
  4. To ask a question when the speaker calls for questions, if you have a microphone, click the “Hand” icon in the menubar.  If you are using external speakers, turn the sound way down or off while you ask your question.
    • The speaker or Presiderwill recognize you by name, then you will click on the padlock icon to turn and lock the microphone "on" while you speak.  Click it again when you have finished speaking.
  5. Some speakers will make whiteboard tools available to you during their session.  These tools will appear above the main space.  You will be directed how to use them when they are visible.
  6. When the session is over, exit the room by clicking the "Quit" menu item from the File menu.  The "Step out"  icon in the top row of icons does not exit the system, but only provides a visual cue to others that you have stepped away from the computer.
