2010 Dr. Bobby Hobgood Distance Learning Lifetime Achievement Award

NCDLA owes much of its current success to pioneering, visionary educators like Dr. Bobby Hobgood for whom we name our annual awards. Each year, NCDLA recognizes excellence in distance learning at the individual level.  We honor those individuals who have contributed greatly to the advancement of distance learning as educators, administrators, or technologists.    Annually the North Carolina Distance Learning Association presents the Dr. Bobby Hobgood Distance Learning Lifetime Achievement Award to individuals who have shown leadership extending the reach of distance learning programs at the local, state, and/ or national level.

Dr. Bobby Hobgood Distance Learning Lifetime Achievment Award was established to:

  • Recognize individuals who are leaders in planning, implementing, and managing distance learning programs in North Carolina
  • Recognize individuals who have shown leadership in distance learning programs at the local, state, and/or national level
  • Honor educators who have furthered the role of distance learning in the North Carolina educational community

 

Award Criteria

20% Vision and Innovation– Describe the vision, innovation and/or unique approaches developed to initiate and implement distance education modes, courses and/or programs. Documentation should include a description of the creative approach and why it is innovative as well as specific examples/samples of the individuals work.

20% Collaboration – Prove a description of how the individual has collaborated, been inclusive and cooperated with others to create successful DE initiatives or involved in the use DE technologies.

20% Exceptional DE statewide involvement and leadership – Describe a DE project and program outcome, evaluation results and/or changes and improvements attributable to the person’s efforts. The description should include the individual’s involvement and differences resulting from their involvement in statewide DE initiatives.

20% Lifetime achievement in DE: Demonstrated a long-standing record of distance learning and learning technologies support including serving the needs of the distance learning community by providing advocacy, information, networking and opportunity. The individual must have demonstrated their support through the enactment of leadership and innovation in distance learning.

20% Resourcefulness – Provide a description of who, what, when and how the resources used to build strong, innovative distance education initiatives or DE technologies.

 

Eligible Recipients

The awards program is open to all North Carolina distance learning staff who have not previously won the NC Technology Educator Award. If more than one nomination is received for an individual, only the first nomination received will be judged. While there is no limit to the number of nominees submitted from an institution, we encourage you to establish a local process to ensure that your "best nominees" are recognized.
