Dr. Maggie Ohara
Maggie is the Associate Dean for Online Programs in the College of Business at East Carolina University.
President-Elect

Dr. Bobby Hobgood
Bobby is the Director of Research and Development in Online Curriculum and Instruction for LEARN North Carolina (www.learnnc.org), a K-12 outreach program of the School of Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Bobby Hobgood has been involved with LEARN NC since its beginning in 1996, when he represented Chatham County Schools on LEARN's Central Region Pilot Team. From August 1997 to November 1998 he served as Educator on Loan and was responsible for providing a teacher's perspective to the program.
Currently, he manages special initiatives in online learning like the development of online language courses in Mandarin and Arabic for the North Carolina Virtual Public School. Related to this work, he has developed and taught the professional development course Teaching World Languages Online, designed to prepare world language teacher for online instruction. Bobby also conducts professional development workshops in global education and represents LEARN NC at education conferences around the state and around the U.S. He serves on an expert panel for the Asia Society, and most recently served as a reviewer for the Fullbright Distinguished Scholars Program.
Bobby’s research interests include global education, social presence in online learning, formative assessment K-12, technology integration, and culturally responsive teaching. Bobby’s doctoral dissertation focused on high school students’ perception of motivation, enjoyment, and learning in online discussions. He was the chair of the 2009 NCDLA Virtual Conference and the 2010 NCDLA Blended Conference.

Dr. Jane Bozarth
Jane Bozarth is the Elearning Coordinator for the NC Office of State Personnel’s HRD Group. She holds an M.Ed in Training and Development/Technology in Training and an Ed.D. in Adult Education. Dr. Bozarth is the author of Elearning Solutions on a Shoestring (2005); Better than Bullet Points: Creating Engaging Elearning with PowerPoint (2008); From Analysis to Evaluation (2008), The Challenge Continues (with Kouzes & Posner, 2010, in press); and Social Media for Trainers (2010; in press). She served as a business book reviewer for Training Magazine for 10 years; upon Training’s demise she moved to the eLearning Guild’s Learning Solution magazine, where she writes both book reviews and the new monthly “Nuts and Bolts” column.
Jane Bozarth is the recipient of Live And Online Award (LOLA) for Best Use of a Synchronous Feature, NASPE’s Rooney Award for Innovation in Government, and a Training Magazine Editor’s Pick Award for Best Synchronous Program. She is also a recipient of a 2009 North Carolina State University Distinguished Alumni Award for Outstanding Contributions to Practice.
In her career Dr. Bozarth’s practice has evolved from strictly-classroom work in 1989 to asynchronous work in the late 1990s to virtual classroom training in 2004. Her new interest lies in social media and supporting informal learning/knowledge transfer in the workplace. She is active on Facebook (“Jane Bozarth Bozarthzone”) and Twitter (@janebozarth), and serves as one of the moderators for the popular Twitter-based #lrnchat sessions .
Dr. Bozarth and her husband, Kent Underwood, live in Durham.

Jane Lang, M.B.A.
Jane is completing her 20th year as a Teaching Instructor in the Marketing/Supply Chain Management department at East Carolina University. She has also recently completed her first 20 years of marriage to her husband Ken. They have two children; a daughter, Chelsea, who will attend UNC-Chapel Hill in the fall and a son, Michael who will be entering high school. Jane has been an NCDLA member for three years and has been a presenter at the past three NCDLA conferences. She served as Committee Chair for Vendors/Exhibits for the 2010 Blended Conference.
Jane has 7 years experience in Distance Education and has also served on the Online Steering Committee at ECU for four years. She has been very active in developing and delivering online courses in several different platforms and formats and her most recent interests are in the areas of Second Life, social media and the Apple iPad. Ms. Lang continues to expand her knowledge, skills and expertise to enable others to continuously improve accessibility in their online courses.

Bruce Friend
Bruce Friend is Director of SAS Curriculum Pathways. Part of SAS's Education Practice, this award-winning education resource provides online lessons and engaging tools and activities at no cost to U.S. educators. Friend has spent the past decade working in the field of online learning. He is a national pioneer in helping to establish the country's first statewide online program and has been the chief administrator of two state virtual schools. In 2003 the United States Distance Learning Association honored him with the "Most Outstanding Achievement in Distance Education" award. Prior to joining SAS, Friend was vice president of the North American Council for Online Learning, a nonprofit organization that provides support to students, parents and online learning programs. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a master's of education from the University of Central Florida

Dr. Kimberly Eke
Kimberly Eke is the Senior Manager for Teaching and Learning Interactive, a division of ITS Teaching and Learning at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. There, she oversees two primary and interrelated services: the learning management systems (Blackboard, Sakai, Elluminate, etc.) and the development of interactive multimedia. Prior to joining ITS Teaching and Learning, Kim was an Senior Instructional Designer at Elon University and developed online courses at Penn State's World Campus and Michigan State's Virtual University. She has a Ph.D. in Resource Development from Michigan State University.

Alva Anthony
Mrs. Alva Anthony serves in a dual role as the Chief of Force Development and Education and Training at Pope Air Force Base, North Carolina. Alva has worked with Pope’s Education office for over fifteen years, At Pope AFB, her daily duties include directing and coordinating oversight of ALS, CAA/FTAC and Education and Training related matters, to include hosting three on-base colleges, and oversight of a military tuition assistance (TA) budget of over $2.1 million. Ms Anthony represents the Force Development Flight in a variety of mission related requirements.

She establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and employees, to include key off-base college personnel and community personnel from various educational organizations
She attended public schools in Fayetteville, graduated from Douglas Byrd Senior High School in 1976, started college at Winston-Salem State University, but later transferred to Fayetteville State University where she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. She then started her Master’s degree in Education from Campbell University, but soon married and moved to Berlin, Germany. She continued under Boston University, and later finished her Master’s degree from Fitchburg State College in Massachusetts in 1990
Community College At-Large

Dr. Candace Holder
Dr. Candace Holder started her educational path at Surry Community College in 1991. Holder started her career with Surry County schools as a SIMS Data Manager, and then worked as an Instructional Technology Specialist while obtaining her higher degrees. In 1996, she became a part-time Computer Science instructor for Surry Community College. Currently, she is the college's Director of Distance Education, the NCCCS Director for Quality and Assessment Center, serves as the NCCCS Trainer for Accessible Online Design and currently serves on the NCCCS Commission of Learning Technologies (COLT).
Dr. Holder also serves on the eLearning Commission Web Portal Team. She previously served as President of the NC Community College Association of Distance Learning (NC3ADL) and is a charter member of this organization. She has hosted numerous course development centers for the NCCCS Virtual Learning Community.
Holder completed her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Appalachian State University in 1998. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Computer Information Systems, a Masters in Higher Education, Instructional Technology and a Ed. S in Adult Education. Her background allows Dr. Holder to now lead a growing and respected program that provides the opportunity to complete a degree at home, offering another great option for busy students to achieve their educational goals.
She is married with three sons and four grandchildren, and is an active member of her church and community.
